iPhone 7 Vs iPhone 6s
iPhone 7 Vs iPhone 6 - What’s changed..?
iPhone 7.. the successor of Apple iPhone 6s, all set to outsell its big brother like all iPhone sequels do. But, is it worth to spend extra price on the annually upgraded model? This is a brief analysis of the features and functions of iPhone 7 compared to iPhone 6s.
Design
Everybody know this pretty strange design change in iPhone 7 - removal of headphones jack. The new iPhone will use a wireless 3.5mm to Lightning adapter.
It sounds cool, but it has some defects. If you want to use your regular headphones with the iPhone, then you will have to carry the adaptor with you, and if it is lost then you will have to buy a new one. Also it will not possible to use to headphones and charge the phone together.
Another change is the home button is now a fixed touch sensitive surface with haptic feedback.
The size and weight of the phone is almost identical to that of iPhone 6s.
- iPhone 7 – 138.3 x 67.1 x 7.1 mm (5.44 x 2.64 x 0.28 in) and 138 g (4.87 oz)
- iPhone 6S – 138.3 x 67.1 x 7.1 mm (5.44 x 2.64 x 0.28 in) and 143 g (5.04 oz)
Also, Apple has expanded the variety of colours in which iPhone is available. These includes Rose Gold, Gold, Silver, Black and Jet Black.
Strength & Memory
The new iPhone 7 offers IP67 dust-resistance and water-resistance which allows the phone to survive even if completely submerged in water for 30 minutes; although the company does not give warranty for any liquid-damage.
iPhone 7 also has stereo speakers which gives about double sound strength than 6s.
iPhone 7 has doubles the internal memory from 16/32/128 GB in iPhone 6s to 64/128/256 GB in iPhone 7, which adds the value for money.
Display
Only display change is that Apple has boosted peak brightness on the iPhone 7 by 25%. Other major display features are the same.
- iPhone 7 – 4.7-inch LED-backlit IPS LCD, 1334 x 750 pixels (326 ppi), 65.6% screen-to-body ratio
- iPhone 6s – 4.7-inch LED-backlit IPS LCD, 1334 x 750 pixels (326 ppi), 65.6% screen-to-body ratio
Performance
Although iPhone 6s delivers an extremely fast performance, the fastest has become faster. The A9 chipset and dual-core CPU has been upgraded to A10 chipset and quad-core CPU respectively. Its RAM (2GB) is the same.
Camera
iPhone 7 offers one of the best camera ever, with 15MP rear camera and 7MP front camera. In addition to this Apple has fitted the iPhone 7 with an all new 6-element lens, upgraded image signal processor.
The iPhone 7 (left) uses a new 6-element lens with greater picture quality than the 5-element lens in the iPhone 6S (right).
- iPhone 7 – Rear: 12 megapixel sensor, f/1.8 aperture, Focus Pixels, Optical Image Stabilisation, quad-LED (dual tone) flash, 4K video recording. Front: 7MP sensor, f/2.2 aperture, 1080p recording
- iPhone 6S – Rear: 12 megapixel sensor, f2.2 aperture, Focus Pixels, Software Image Stabilisation, dual-LED flash, 4K video recording. Front: 5MP Front Camera, f2.2 aperture, 720p video recording
Battery
Apple has still not added any fast-charging or wireless charging technology. Also, iPhone 7 has no noticeable improvement in its battery life.
Price
iPhone 6s : $549-649 (INR 42,299-65,849)
iPhone 7 : $649-849 (INR price to be revealed on October 7 2017)
At the end..
Although iPhone 7 can’t be called a game-changer; but still iPhone 7 shows many slight improvements over iPhone 6s which include upgraded camera, performance gains, increased water-resistance, bigger memory options and improved brightness.. still for which iPhones are known.
So personally, I would consider buying an iPhone 7 rather than iPhone 6s.

India at Rio 2016
INDIA
AT RIO 2016
With 117
athletes competing in 15 different sports, the Indian team was all set to
strike at Rio Olympics 2016.
This
time there were the highest Indian representatives among all the Olympics.
Everybody was sure that India could give its best performance in Olympics. Most
medal contenders were from shooting, wrestling, badminton, & boxing. But
the show wasn’t up to mark. Instead of improving, it got degraded.
With
just P.V.Sindhu winning a silver in badminton, and Sakshi Malik winning a bronze
in wrestling, India stood 67th in the medal table this time,
as compared to 55th in 2012 and 50th in 2008. Our performance
improved in many sports, but still most athletes failed to win medals.
Many
of them like Abhinav Bindra, Dipa Karmakar and Mirza-Bopanna team secured the 4th position, but
unfortunately they failed to give their best performance at the nervous
situations.

The shooting campaign of India had 12 shooters; still it became a
big flaw.
Shooting was the only sport that has brought India an individual
gold medal ever. But this time none of the Indian shooters could leave a mark.
·
Wrestling –
Although the men couldn’t perform as per expectations, Sakshi
Malik became India’s first woman wrestler to win an Olympic medal.
·
Badminton –
Badminton went the best sport for India this year. P.V.Sindhu
created history by becoming the first woman of India to win an Olympic silver.
Srikanth Kidambi too performed well.
· Hockey –
The Indian men’s team saw improved as compared to previous years.
Also the women’s team qualified for the Olympics after 36 years.
· Boxing-
There were 3 boxers representing India but none of them was able
to clear even quarterfinals.
· Archery-
There was a visible improvement in the archery side by all 3 women
archers and the sole man archer.
·
Artistic
Gymnastics-
Dipa Karmakar, the first Indian gymnast to qualify for the Olympics,
shocked everyone becoming the 3rd woman in the world to be able to
successfully perform the Produnova Vault. She claimed the 4th
position in the final of women’s vault event at Rio.
Medalists
· P.V.Sindhu:
Pusarla Venkat Sindhu created history by
becoming the first woman of India to a silver medal at the Olympics.
She won all the elimination rounds by straight sets (2-0). She defeated the
world no. 2 Wang Yihan of China (21-19, 21-19) to move in the semis & Japan’s
Nozomi Okuhara (21-19, 21-10) to progress to the finals; but lost to Carolina
Marin of Spain by 19-21, 21-12 & 21-15.
· Sakshi Malik:
Sakshi Malik too, set a record and became the first Indian woman
wrester to win an Olympic medal. Although she lost to Russia’s Koblova Zholobova
in quarterfinals,
she lucky enough to get a chance in repechage rounds which didn’t
go in vain.
She defeated Kyrgyzstan’s Tynybekova Aisuluu in the bronze medal

CONCLUSION
By seeing this table, it is clear that
this was the worst performance of India in the last 3 Olympics. The reason is
that most athletes didn’t perform as per their capacity and couldn’t even give their
personal best. Even experienced people, like Abhinav Bindra, Yogeshwar Dutt
& Saina Nehwal; too failed to give their best when they were needed to.
But, looking at the positive side,
India got many emerging stars like P.V.Sindhu, Sakshi Malik, Dipa Karmakar and
Atanu Das; all who made their debut in Rio.
Although this time we failed, but there
is always an another chance. The failure has opened the eyes of our athletes and
has given them an idea of Olympic experience. Many more events are upcoming.
Hope that India’s performance improves...
