REVIEW ON SULTAN

INTRO

Sultan is an sports/drama film by Ali Abbas Zafar which rolled on theatres on Eid 2016. Successfully hitting the 500 crore mark worldwide, it stands 4th on the list of highest groosing indian films as per   https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_highest-grossing_Indian_films#Highest_grossing_Hindi_films. Its cast contains big names like Salman Khan, Anushka Sharma and Randeep Hooda.

The cast matches with the film's big collection. With Salman Khan in the cast, it was already sure the it would be a blockbuster. Just try speaking the word 'Sultan' continuously at your top speed. Are you ending up with the word 'Salman'? Yes, even its name  rhymes with the word 'Salman'. The Salman fanpower itself contributes majority of its earnings.

Anushka Sharma too adds glory to the movie. She has a significant role in the film, specially in the first half.

It also stars Randeep Hooda as sultan's coach, Amit Sadh as Akash and Anant Vidhaat Sharma as Govind(sultan’s friend)

DETAILED IDEOLOGY

Although Sultan has gone superhit, it has both positive and negative aspects.

POSITIVE ASPECTS

• The film maintains interest and suspense in viewers. Although it is quite long, it doesn't bore the audience.
• Although it is based on sports and drama, it isn't lacking comedy. Its first half contains various comedy scenes to relax the audience.
• It plays with the emotions of the people. Many times when its going straight, it suddenly takes a U turn. There are many such instances in the film, for example - When every thing is going on happy, a shocking incident occurs; as seen in the end of first half.
• It has a strong script and a solid cast, which ensures stability to the movie.

NEGATIVE ASPECTS

• The sports-drama based ideology of the film has been very common these days. This ideology in India was first seen in SRK's 'Chak De! India'. Since then, many movies have came which are having the same idea.
• The film is all about Salman and his fanpower. Just imagine an another actor instead of Salman. Would it be such a big blockbuster? Almost all the Salman fans would have watched it, accounting for a majority of its earnings. 

CONCLUSION

Looking at both the aspects, we can say that although it has some negative aspects, the positive side has more strength and it overcomes the other one. The audience come out happy after watching it and have a positive response.
